About Amplitude One

Amplitude One was founded in Lisbon in 2017 by Diogo Ferreira, after he spent nine years inside two of Portugal's larger financial institutions, the last four of them running an internal transformation office at a mid-sized insurance group in Porto. The name came from a conversation about signal and noise: most organisations are generating enormous amounts of internal data and activity, but the amplitude of the useful signal is tiny. The job, as Diogo saw it, was to turn that up.

01 Fixed-fee pricing agreed before any contract is signed

The firm grew slowly by design. For the first three years, Amplitude One took on no more than four engagements at a time, which meant turning away work that did not fit the model. That constraint forced a discipline that has stayed: every project has a named lead, a fixed scope, and a written definition of done before a contract is signed. The first client, a Lisbon-based logistics company with 80 employees, is still a client today, now on their third engagement. That is the metric Diogo cares about most.

02 Named senior consultant on every project, no bait-and-switch staffing

03 Works only in financial services, logistics, and professional services

04 First client in 2017 is still an active client today

Diogo Ferreira

Diogo Ferreira spent nine years inside Portuguese financial institutions before founding Amplitude One in Lisbon in 2017. His last corporate role was head of the transformation office at a mid-sized insurance group in Porto, where he led a three-year operational restructuring that reduced claims-processing time by 34%. He trained in industrial engineering at the University of Porto and later completed a part-time executive programme in organisational behaviour at Nova SBE. Outside work, he keeps a close reading habit: one non-fiction book per fortnight, annotated in the margins. He believes most strategy problems are, at root, measurement problems.
